In addition to Egyptian kingship lists, Guenon also analysed ancient Chinese texts such as the Records of the Grand Historian (109 B.C.), which described the Three Heavenly Sovereigns preceding the Five Good Emperors. Successively, the Heavenly Sovereign, the Earthly Sovereign and the Human Sovereign ruled for millennia before the Yellow Emperor’s reign.
